Celebrations are local, so the product should be too

Halloween everywhere, Thanksgiving in the US, Día de Muertos in Mexico, switched on by region with no app update.

e-Candle’s Halloween pack: a ghost candle on a cake, with pumpkin cards

A birthday is universal. The way people celebrate isn’t. Halloween is everywhere now. Thanksgiving belongs to a table in the US. Día de Muertos in Mexico is a celebration of the people you remember. A product that treats them all the same misses the moment for most of the people using it.

Seasons, by region

In October 2026 we added seasonal packs to e-Candle: Halloween for everyone, Thanksgiving in the US and Día de Muertos in Mexico. Each has its own cards and its own mega candle, made for that celebration rather than recoloured from a birthday.

No app update needed

Seasons come and go faster than app releases. So each pack switches on by region from a remote setting, and appears in the app on the right days without anyone updating anything. When the season ends, it steps back. Adding the next celebration is a content decision, not a release.

The same thinking runs through the language. e-Candle speaks 12 languages, from Spanish to Thai, because a card that arrives in your own language feels like it was made for you.

What it left us with

  • Local isn’t translation. It’s knowing which moments matter where.
  • Build the switch before the content, so the calendar never waits for a release.
  • Respect what each celebration means. Made for it, not recoloured.
